TU opens the 2007 season on the road Thursday night in Monroe, Louisiana. The Hurricane travel to south to face the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

"We're very, very excited. I know I'm ready to get out on the field and start coaching. From the end of Sunday's practice, it's all about being mentally prepared now. Physically we've prepared hard and are tired of beating on each other," said TU football coach Todd Graham.

TU finished 2006 with an 8 and 5 record; UL-Monroe on the other hand posted a 4-8 record last year.

"ULM is very, very athletic and very talented," said Graham. "They're very explosive on offense and very capable of the big play, and on defense they've been very opportunistic and have created turnovers."

Todd Graham was named TU's new head football coach in January.

The football game kicks off Thursday is at 6:03 p.m.
