OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state Poison Control Center is issuing a warning about candy from Mexico that may be contaminated with lead. The warning comes after the California Department of Public Safety reported finding unhealthy levels of lead in candies called Barrilito and Miguelito. The company that makes the candies, TJ Candy Corp. is issuing a voluntary recall.
The candy could cause health problems for infants, young children and pregnant women.
Health officials say the candies should be thrown out. Pregnant women and parents whose children have eaten the candies should talk with their doctor about testing.
