A Sapulpa resident was critically injured in an overnight traffic accident near Sand Springs. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol say just after 4:30 a.m. Monday, 18-year-old Kyle Zimmerman was eastbound on Hilton Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the road. The accident happened near state Highway 66 in Sand Springs.
OHP troopers say Zimmerman's car ran through a school bus stop and a fence before hitting a tree and coming to a stop. A passerby pulled Zimmerman out just before the car caught fire. Troopers say Zimmerman was taken by helicopter to a Tulsa hospital.
Law enforcement officials tell the News On 6, alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
