Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor is kicking off a mentoring program called Mentoring to the Max.

On Wednesday, at Tulsa’s Hawthorne Elementary School, the mayor said mentors help build a safer city, and make a positive difference for students and themselves.

"It's a great experience for the child, but it's been a very rewarding experience for our members, because they know they're making a difference for the future of Tulsa," said Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor.

The program is hoping for at least 100 volunteer mentors. There are more than 40 different programs to match your schedule and interests. If you’re interested in becoming a mentor you can call 211 for more information.
