OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Unlike the situation in some states, cheating spouses are safe from having their turnpike romances exposed by toll records in Oklahoma. Photographs are routinely taken of license plates of cars and trucks who utilize the state's electronic PIKEPASS toll collection system, but officials say they are used only to catch people cheating on turnpike fees.

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority spokesman Jack Damrill says the authority has a trust agreement that prevents the agency from releasing pictures or other client information.

Lawyers in some northeastern states have recently obtained toll records to prove infidelity in divorce cases.

In Pennsylvania, that state's E-Z Pass system was used by a divorce lawyer to prove her husband had been unfaithful. The husband claimed to have been in a nighttime business meeting in Pennsylvania, but toll records showed he went to New Jersey.
