About 1,000 inmates from 10 state prisons are expected to compete in events ranging from bull riding to an event called "money the hard way." In that event inmates try to grab a $100 bill that stuck between the horns of a bull.
City officials in McAlester have scheduled a parade for Saturday and outdoor concerts as part of the rodeo event.
Competition begins at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the state penitentiary.
