Hundreds of TU students brave the heat to move into their new homes Wednesday, and about 600 freshmen are volunteering in their new community, cleaning up Kendall Whittier elementary. It's the University's first large scale volunteer effort as part of freshman orientation.
"We're doing everything from gardening to painting murals on the walls, reading to students in classrooms, we are sorting clothes, sorting books, anything Kendall Whittier School needed to do, we're here to do today," said Mike Mills, University of Tulsa Associate Dean of Students.
The work doesn't stop Wednesday, on Thursday students will work with kids from Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Oklahoma.
