OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for residents of Tulsa County Tuesday morning and a broader heat advisory for those living in the Arkansas River valley of Oklahoma. The warning runs until 7 p.m. Thursday and the advisory for 24 counties expires at the same time.
The National Weather Service says daytime temperatures likely will reach the triple digits through at least Thursday and overnight lows aren't expected to fall below 70, so folks in that part of the state won't get much relief.
Temperatures on Monday ranged from 99 degrees in Gage to 103 degrees in Hobart, Lawton, Guthrie, Stillwater, Bartlesville, McAlester, Muskogee and Tulsa. The high in Oklahoma City, Frederick, Enid and Ponca City reached 101 degrees.
The 24 counties under the heat advisory are: Adair, Choctaw, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Haskell, Latimer, Le Flore, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pittsburg, Pushmataha, Rogers, Sequoyah, Wagoner and Washington.
