OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The number of people killed on Oklahoma roadways remains down this year compared to last year.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 398 people have died on Oklahoma roadways this year. That's compared to 443 during the same time last year.

There also have been slightly fewer fatalities so far in the month of August compared to last year. The patrol reports 21 people have died so far this year in August, compared to 24 traffic fatalities during the same time period last year.
