PURCELL, Okla. (AP) -- Prosecutors in McClain County say nine felony embezzlement charges will be filed against a former Purcell funeral home director who is currently in jail on drug charges.
District Attorney Greg Mashburn says Mike Damet is accused of spending or misusing nearly $50,000 in prepaid funeral benefits.
Mashburn says Damet illegally converted the benefits from nine trust funds into money for his own use.
Damet is being held in the Cleveland County jail on charges of selling drugs out of the Yoakum-Damet Funeral Home.
He was arrested following a drug raid of the funeral home in which funeral home records were seized. Mashburn says an investigation of those records led to the anticipated embezzlement charges.
