A Green Country couple is counting down the days until they're married this weekend. News On 6 anchor Craig Day reports they thought this day might not happen, but it will thanks to love, skilled doctors and nurses and a little ingenuity.

Jason Heller and Paige White's story is one of persistence and determination, as well as love. In a matter of days they'll marry and begin a new life together.

"I don't think there's going to be a dry eye in the church seeing her go down that aisle," said groom to be Jason Heller.

The happy couple thought their big day may never happen. A car wreck nearly killed Paige, her legs were broken, her calf muscle was nearly cut in half and an artery was severed. Jason's been by her side the entire time.

"I came close to not making it, and if I did I wouldn't have my legs. I didn't think I would be able to keep my legs," bride to be Paige White said.

The wreck that smashed Paige's legs also nearly shattered her spirits. Their wedding was just a month away. The young lady who dreamed of walking down the aisle since she was a little girl wasn't sure she could make it.

"It was about four weeks away and I kind of panicked. I didn't know what we were going to do," said White.

The couple was determined to keep their wedding date. Paige's mom came up with an idea and dad went to work on it.

"We've got a barstool on wheels," White said.

"It's really ugly. It's about as ugly as it can be, but I think it's going to be functionable,” said Paige’s father Gary White. “I think it's going to get the job done."

Through trial and error, Gary White attached a bar stool to a furniture dollie. It will enable his daughter to be upright as she's rolled down the aisle by her dad and brother.

"Dustin will be on one side, I'll be on the other, and down the aisle we go," Gary White said. "Anything that we could do to keep that date, we were going to do it."

Once the contraption is covered, it will look just fine. In addition to dad's device there's a just married sign for her wheelchair and garland for the wheels. The big day will go on as planned, a little bit differently, but just as special.

It will be about four weeks before Paige will be able to bear more weight on her legs. The couple has scaled back their honeymoon plans, but will go on a big trip when she gets better.

By the way, another brother is serving in Iraq. He came home when Paige was severely injured, but won't be able to be there for the wedding. The family hopes to set up a webcam, so he can see the ceremony.
