An excessive heat warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday for the following counties in Oklahoma: Craig, Creek, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington,.
An upper level ridge of high pressure over our region will move little this week. Hot afternoon temperatures and humid conditions will persist through the entire week across the warned area.
Afternoon heat index values will rise into the 105 to 110 degree range during the day.
Overnight low temperatures in the 75 to 80 degree range will provide little relief from the heat.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
