OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Three American Indian tribes in Oklahoma are receiving federal grants to help them with environmental initiatives. The grants totaling more than $300,000 are from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The Shawnee Tribe of Miami will receive $100,000 to update its primary environmental program.
The Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma in Norman will get about $115,000 to support a program to renovate abandoned properties for redevelopment.
And the Tonkawa Tribe will get about $110,000 to develop its environmental program, which will focus on identifying illegal dump sites.
