NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma won't have workhorse Adrian Peterson to carry the load at running back this season.
And coach Bob Stoops doesn't see any of his replacements getting quite as many carries as the former Heisman Trophy runner-up.
Peterson led the NCAA with 339 carries in 2004 and his career total of 747 rushes ranks only behind Steve Owens (958) in Oklahoma's record book, even though he left after only three seasons to play in the NFL.
But the Sooners didn't lose a game while Peterson was out with a broken collarbone last season. Stoops likes the prospects of having some combination of Allen Patrick, DeMarco Murray, Chris Brown, Jacob Gutierrez and Mossis Madu splitting time in the backfield.
