OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Remington Park is continuing preparations for its annual thoroughbred meet that will begin a 69-day run on Thursday.
The state's largest horse racing track is entering its 20th year of operation.
Track officials say Remington Park is offering more purse money during the coming meet than it has for any other thoroughbred meet since the track opened in 1988.
During the meet, racing will be held in the evenings on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as well as on Sunday afternoon. It's the first time in three years that Remington Park is offering afternoon racing.
Among the big races during the track's opening weekend will be the Ponca City Stakes on Friday, the Adena Springs Matchmaker Turf Sprint on Saturday and the Brother Brown Stakes on Sunday. All three races will have a purse of $50,000.
