RICHARDSON, Texas (AP) _ Southeastern Oklahoma State is the preseason favorite to win the Lone Star Conference North Division football title.
The NCAA Division Two league includes five schools from Oklahoma and others from Texas and New Mexico. The Oklahoma schools are all in the LSC's North Division.
Southeastern received 10 of the 17 first-place votes on ballots cast by the league's coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives. Over the past five seasons the Savage Storm is 36-and-15.
Following Southeastern in the North Division poll are Southwestern Oklahoma State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Northeastern State, Central Oklahoma and East Central.
Northeastern wide receiver Jarrett Byers is the North Division's preseason offensive player of the year while Central Oklahoma linebacker Will Clewis earned the division's preseason defensive player of the year honor.
