A local music promoter plans to make entertainment big business in Green Country, and he has his sights set on Eufaula. Tom Barlow recently reopened the amphitheater in Eufaula Cove, but a concert set for Saturday night is being postponed because of drainage issues. Still the promoter is excited about hosting concerts there this fall as well as next summer.
"I see something here already. I already see, well I got to see 7,000 people, and you know that was with Portable-Jons, and portable this, and temporary that. I already see the finished product next year,†concert promoter Tom Barlow said.
The amphitheater's been sitting empty since 2003. When it was built, Megastar was supposed to be a grand entertainment complex that would include the 28,000 seat amphitheatre and a water park. But the $5 million project was left unfinished when the town's mayor was imprisoned for embezzlement and conspiracy.
