CARNOUSTIE, Scotland (AP) -- Former Oklahoma State standout Hunter Mahan finishes tied for sixth after the final round of the British Open at Carnoustie Golf Club in Scotland.
Mahan shot a 6-under-par 65 today and finished at 4-under 280 for the tournament, three shots behind the winner, Padraig Harrington of Ireland.
Mahan now has qualified for all four majors in 2008. He's exempt for next year's British Open by virtue of his top-15 finish.
Mahan qualified for the Masters by winning the Travelers Championship in Hartford last month, a victory that also gets him into the PGA Championship.
A month ago, he tied for 15th in the U.S. Open to ensure a berth for next year.
On Sunday at Carnoustie, Harrington beat Sergio Garcia of Spain in a four-hole playoff after they completed regulation tied at 7-under 277.
Mahan won $299,235 for his sixth-place finish.
