Harry Potter fans have to wait until midnight before they can get their hands on the final book in the series, "Deathly Hallows." But the Potter party was in full swing in Tulsa Friday evening. The News On 6’s Ashli Sims reports as excited as many folks are to see what happens to Harry, the release of the final volume is also bittersweet. But one local attorney says the magic doesn't have to end.

She created a literary icon and a blockbuster franchise, now J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, is calling it quits with the seventh and final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

"J.K. Rowling's talent, she's just so good, and her character appeals to all ages," attorney-author Dale Ellis said.

Local attorney Dale Ellis is an avid Potter fan, and a Rowling admirer. He says he finished the sixth book and got inspired.

"So I came up with the idea, since I had it in my head so much that I would pick up and write Harry Potter at age 29," Ellis said.

One year and about 700 pages later, Ellis has created Harry Potter, the adult years. The attorney turned author says he can't say too much about his plot because all of the characters are copyrighted.

"You will see a whole host of new people, and some of the old ones, but it ties right in," he said.

Ellis has even pitched the idea to the woman behind it all.

"I have my toe in the door, is as far as I've gotten,” said Ellis. “Frankly, the best I can say at this moment is they haven't said, 'no.’"

Ellis could have a few plot problems, because he doesn't know what happens in the seventh book yet. Main characters are rumored to die; even Harry's fate is up in the air.

"Well, if Harry dies they're magic. All kinds of things can happen," Ellis said.

But Ellis firmly believes the bespectacled orphan will make it through book seven alive, and with J.K.'s okay, the Harry hoopla could just be beginning.

"I think that I've made it so that adults and children will still want to read the book. So, hopefully she'll read it and say, 'Maybe, that's not such a bad idea,'" said Ellis.
