NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The Oklahoma softball team is hiring a former Oklahoma State All-American baseball player as an assistant.
Head coach Patty Gasso is announcing the hiring of Tripp MacKay who has spent the past seven years as a private hitting instructor in Dallas.
MacKay was a two-time All-American second baseman at OSU and played on the Cowboys' 1996 College World Series team.
At OU he replaces Howard Dobson who was hired earlier this year as head coach at Southern Mississippi.
