POLSON, Mont. (AP) _ People in northwestern Montana are cleaning up Thursday, after a tornado hit in the Polson area Wednesday night. The National Weather Service in Missoula says there was a confirmed report, from trained weather spotter, that a tornado touched down northwest of Polson at about 8 p.m.

Storm damage extended north and west to Libby. There, damaged property includes a screen blown down at a drive-in theater, that was offering carload prices for Wednesday night's showing of ``Live Free or Die Hard.''

The storm knocked down trees, ripped out fencing and dumped heavy rain.

A weather spotter estimated four inches of rain fell in Libby in 30 minutes, causing flooding in town.

National Weather Service personnel from Missoula headed north Thursday, to assess damage.
