TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A 2-year-old boy who died May 17th after his mouth was taped shut at a Tulsa daycare suffocated and had excess fluid in his brain and lungs because of the taping. An autopsy report on the death of Joshua Ray Minton says the tape obstructed the boy's airway and he had fluid in his mouth, nasal passages and stomach.
Daycare owner Vicki Chiles is charged with murder in the boy's death and is due in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday. Chiles also faces an unrelated charge of abuse of an 8-year-old.
Chiles told police she taped the boy's mouth and tied his hands because he wouldn't be quiet.
There were no internal injuries, but a number of bruises were evidence of the attempts made to save the boy's life, the report stated.
