Some of us just can't get enough Christmas. If you are one of those people, then The News On 6’s Rick Wells has found the spot just for you. He reports on the Vintage Holiday Store in Tulsa.
Gregory Agee's been an avid Christmas stuff collector for years. He shops garage sales, estate sales, anywhere he can find it. His Christmas collection got so big he needed a bigger space to hold it. He found that space on 11th street a few years ago, and now it’s crammed full, and it’s all for sale.
"People come in and say that brings back so many memories," said Vintage Holiday Store owner Gregory Agee.
There are little trees, called bottle brush trees, and it wasn't Christmas until the stockings were hung on the cardboard fireplace.
"Just a cardboard fold up thing that came in a little box," Agee said.
If you are old enough you'll remember the aluminum trees, wire limbs stuck into a broomstick sized trunk.
"They had a short term popularity, 1958 to 1964," said Agee.
Well, guess what, they're hip again. Now a revolving color wheel adds something extra. The wheel is a modern reproduction, but the tree is original. There are hundreds of ornaments, some old some not so old, and an entire display case of Santas
"You'd be surprised how many people keep Christmas up all year round,†said Agee.
He's got small oil lamps that once hung on trees, coasters and Christmas cards.
"Some people only want the old stuff, some people mix the old and new stuff," Agee said.
There are plenty of both. The Vintage Holiday Store is usually open Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment. You can call them at 918-810-7831.
