NEW YORK (AP) -- David Wells of the San Diego Padres has been suspended for seven games by the commissioner's office. The action was taken because of his animated argument with an umpire last weekend.
The incident took place last Saturday when Wells was ejected by Ed Hickox for questioning calls in the 4th inning.
Unless Wells' files an appeal, the suspension will start Friday.
