A bittersweet homecoming for U.S. Army specialist and Mannford native, Jeremy Varnell on Tuesday. The 23-year-old medic has served in Iraq since October of last year. Jeremy is getting married on Sunday, and then heads back to Iraq on the 26th. He will serve another five months, and he may not be back in time for Christmas.
The News On 6 caught with Varnell as he arrived at the Tulsa International Airport.
After his deployment, Varnell says plans to get his bachelor's degree. "I'm always going out with the guys who are trying to find the insurgents you get shot at you get hit with the IED'S and my job is to sit there and make sure no one gets injured,†says Army medic Jeremy Varnell.
Varnell says the hardest part of being a medic is staying focused while saving the lives of his friends.
