COFFEYVILLE, Kan. (AP) -- Residents of the flood-stricken neighborhoods of Coffeyville will finally be allowed back into their homes Wednesday morning.
City manager Jeffrey Morris told hundreds of people at a town hall meeting on Tuesday, July 10th, that the barricades will come down at 10 a.m. A curfew will be in place from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 11th, and Thursday, July 12th.
Colored placards will tell residents how much flood damage their homes received. Residents can remain in homes marked with green placards.
Mayor Virgil Horn lost his own home to the flood. He told townspeople that he can't prepare them enough for what some will see when they go into their homes.
