A drowning in eastern Oklahoma at Maynard Bayou Creek has taken the life of an Oklahoma girl. The creek is located on the Cherokee-Muskogee County line. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 8-year-old Tawni Smith of Fort Gibson was playing on a low water bridge Saturday, when OHP troopers say the girl disappeared.
Firefighters found her body downstream about an hour and a half later. An investigation into the girl's death continues.
