The America Red Cross is assisting Oklahomans displaced from their homes by this weeks flooding by giving them a hot meal and a place to stay. The Red Cross has opened shelters in both the Miami and Bartlesville areas.
In Miami the shelters are located at the First Christian Church, 2424 N. Main, and the First Baptist Church, located at First and A Street next to the hospital. The waters in Miami have not crested yet, and Red Cross officials are urging residents to pay attention to evacuation notices and head to the shelter before they are in danger.
In the Bartlesville area, the Dewey shelter has been combined with the Bartlesville shelter at the East Cross Church, 820 S Madison Boulevard. The good news for Washington County residents is that the water is receding in Bartlesville. The Red Cross will be organizing disaster assessment teams in the coming days as the neighborhoods become accessible.
Statewide, about 100 Red Cross disaster volunteers are helping flood victims. If you would like to volunteer or donate to the American Red Cross, click here.
