OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A contractor died Friday while performing electrical work at the state Capitol, authorities said.

The worker, identified as Tim Caldwell, 35, was discovered dead about 2:30 p.m. in an attic above the Capitol's fifth floor, said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Chris West.

Caldwell, of Choctaw, arrived at the Capitol about 10 a.m. and was replacing light bulbs or performing other electrical work, West said.

``There was some speculation that he might have been electrocuted, but the medical examiner needs to make that determination,'' West said. He said there was no indication that the area where the contractor was working was unsafe.

``We did get a call to our dispatch of concern about the guy and we sent a trooper up there,'' West said. ``He was found lying on the floor.''

West said he did not know the name of the company that employed Caldwell.
