Deportation Process Underway For Illegal Immigrants

The federal government has begun the deportation process for a group of illegal immigrants stopped in Tulsa Monday morning. Officials tell the News On 6, the process is underway for the 17 men and women who were in a van stopped by Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers early Monday morning.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say they stopped the van because of a broken headlight. The driver did not have a license and told the OHP trooper he was taking the men and women to Chicago.

Five of the 17 have already been deported to Mexico, the rest are expected to be returned to Mexico on Tuesday or Wednesday.
