Tulsa City Council members met Saturday morning to weigh the pros and cons of a possible new city hall. Earlier this year, Mayor Kathy Taylor proposed that the city move its offices to One Technology Center downtown, but before that happens, the council will have to approve the move.
Proponents of One Technology Center say it would be a smart financial move and would allow every city employee to work in the same building. They are currently scattered across more than half a dozen buildings downtown. Officials say Saturday morning’s debate went well.
"We can't decide on a transaction like this without doing a lot of due diligence and standing up to the tough questions, and that's what's going on,†said director of economic development Don Himelfarb. “It's not adversarial, but it's hard hitting and that's what it needs to be, it's a good process."
If approved, the city could begin moving this fall.
