OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The grieving father of a Russian teenager who died at an Oklahoma City hospital raises questions about his medical care.
Sabit Kurbanov -- who broke down in tears several times -- also appealed to the public today for financial assistance to return his 16-year-old son, David, to Russia.
Speaking through an interpreter, Kurbanov said he believed experiments may have been performed on his son. He showed photographs of scars on his son and maintained they were caused by cuts.
He said Saint Anthony Hospital medical personnel said the scars were caused by medicine.
The hospital released a statement saying no experimental procedures were performed on the teen. Officials said help was offered to get the boy's body back to his home country but those offers were rejected.
David Kurbanov came to Oklahoma last year after Saint Anthony agreed to perform charitable surgery on the boy.
Doctors in Moscow discovered a tumor that had wrapped around David's brain stem, crowding the portion that controls involuntary body functions such as balance, swallowing and appetite.
