Lots of folks noticed in the night sky this Sunday night a very bright full moon. Nothing unusual about that, but if you look closer you will also see a star that is extremely close to it. That happens to be the planet Mars, which also happens to be brighter than usual right now. The reason for the brightness of Mars is because this is about as close as it comes to the Earth. The Moon and Mars that close together sure makes for an interesting show in the night sky. It will not last long though as they will be getting further apart in the coming days and weeks as their orbital geometry dictates.
