DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- The presidential campaign of Tom Tancredo is over. The Republican congressman from Colorado says he's dropping out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination. He says he's endorsing Mitt Romney.

Tancredo based his campaign on fighting illegal immigration. He's run TV ads that link weak border control with terrorist attacks, rape and other crimes.

His announcement in Iowa Thursday comes two weeks before the state begins the nominating process with precinct caucuses.
