Over the past couple of days, the Tulsa Fire Department has responded to numerous calls of the illegal, open burning of brush, limbs and storm debris. Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles tells the News On 6, open brush fires are prohibited by city ordinance.
Bowles says any open burning requires a permit through the city of Tulsa Fire Marshal's office and each permit application will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
With the current level of tree debris on the ground around the city, Bowles says even the smallest burning brush piles could prove disastrous. Tulsa Fire Captain Larry Bowles says any unauthorized open burning within the city limits of Tulsa will be met with a no-tolerance policy.
