Students Get In The Christmas Spirit

Tulsa students are making Christmas a little brighter for less fortunate children. Sixth graders at Monte Cassino raised $8,500 to use for shopping. They chose angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and then the shopping began on Wednesday. The gifts are delivered to kids who may have nothing.

"They just really understand what it feels like to give another child joy. And, they understand that not every child wakes up to toys and gifts and things like that. And, they truly understand that this is all because of them. These children are getting a Christmas because of their work and effort,â€ said Debbie Coleman, 6th grade math teacher at Monte Cassino.

The students raised the money by doing odd jobs all year long.

Itâ€™s not too late for anyone to help. Angels can be adopted from the Angel Tree at Woodland Hills Mall, near 71st and Memorial. Gifts should be returned to the tree by December 23rd.
