Just as the weather conditions change, so does the state of the city of Tulsa. News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren reports city leaders have been briefing the media every few hours on emergency services. The main problem the city of Tulsa is dealing with is of course, power outages. They have been working, so far, to restore power to "priority" customers such as hospitals, nursing homes and emergency centers. They're working around the clock and hope to have the priority customers taken care of sometime tonight and start restoring residential power on Tuesday.
Another focus is getting power restored at the Mohawk Water Treatment Plant, as long as it's without power, Tulsans are being asked to conserve water. One reason we need to conserve water is so firefighters will have enough water to do their jobs.
In the last 24 hours the Tulsa Fire Department has responded to 75 structure fires, one of them was fatal. They say that's the equivalent to two or three months’ worth of fires in one day.
City leaders are asking that residents wait to start removing trees and branches from your yard. EMSA has responded to several calls of people trapped beneath trees as they try to clear debris.
The best advice city leaders have is to bundle up and stay inside your home or get to one of the shelters.
