Icy conditions have grounded all flights coming in and out of Tulsa International Airport. News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca reports airport officials hope to have some flights on Wednesday. All flights were cancelled on Tuesday because the airport lost power in the morning. Without power they couldn't screen passengers and baggage which the federal government requires.

Power was restored to the airport in the afternoon, but there was a new problem. They don't have planes at the gates. When the power went out, the airlines knew they couldn't pick up passengers so they sent the flights to other cities.

They're hoping to get a few planes in on Wednesday for scheduled flights. The cancellations left dozens of people stranded, many from surrounding states.

"They're trying to find hotel rooms or go back home if that's an option for them, but there are some people that that's not even an option for," said Tulsa Airport Authority official Alexis Higgins. “I'm from Joplin, Missouri, and we came down this morning to catch a flight out of here to California and everything was shut down. So now I have to return tomorrow to catch the same flight, hopefully out of there tomorrow."
