MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ The Detroit Lions continue to fade following their fourth straight loss, a 42-10 crushing by the Vikings at Minnesota.
Former Oklahoma standout Adrian Peterson was productive in his return from a knee injury, rushing for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Chester Taylor added 70 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries to help the Vikings even their record at 6-and-6, tying them with the Lions in the battle for the final NFC wild-card berth.
Tarvaris Jackson was 18-of-24 for 204 yards and two touchdowns, with both scoring throws coming in the final 2:17 of the first half to give the Vikes a 35-10 lead.
Lions quarterback Jon Kitna threw for 260 yards and one touchdown, but the team's running game became a moot point after Detroit gave up 28 points in the second quarter.
The Lions ran for just 23 yards on seven carries.
