A Tulsa police officer is recovering from a head injury after hitting a horse with his squad car overnight. It happened in east Tulsa around 12:45 a.m. Monday. The police officer, Corporal Randy Solomon was traveling westbound on 11th Street near 169th East Avenue when his vehicle hit the horse.
Solomon did not have time to avoid the animal, and it ran into the driver's side of his car, crashing through the windshield, according to Officer Leland Ashley.
The impact broke one of the horse's legs and busted the glass out of the patrol car's windshield.
EMSA was called out to treat Solomon at the scene. Corporal Randy Solomon was taken to a Tulsa hospital, where he was treated and released.
The horse survived the collision and was taken by animal control officers for medical treatment. Officer Leland Ashley said police were still looking for the owner of the horse.
