More students interested in math and science brings a boost to Tulsa Community College’s West Campus. The school held a unique groundbreaking ceremony to mark the construction of its new Science and Math Building at 7505 West 41st on Wednesday.
Several community leaders, including Senator Nancy Riley gathered dirt samples from the site. Those samples will eventually be displayed inside the new building. TCC President Tom McKeon says the expansion will give graduates a competitive edge in the workforce.
"The majority of the careers that are most in demand today have a base in science and mathematics. This new element at the West Campus will make it possible for us to better serve our students and graduates for those careers. And ladies and gentleman, that is something to celebrate,†said TCC President Tom McKeon.
The $6 million facility will be ready for classes in January of 2009.
