MARIETTA, Okla. (AP) -- The top two officials of an illegal horse racing track in southern Oklahoma are avoiding prison by pleading guilty as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Jesus Romero of Dallas admits to being the general manager of the Red River Playgrounds near Thackerville, Oklahoma. He pleaded guilty to 47 felony charges including conspiracy, commercial gambling, charging admission to an illegal track and managing unlawful proceeds.

His plea deal calls for 162 years in deferred sentences and more than $42,000 in fines and court costs.

Romero's top assistant was Martin Trejo of Seagoville, Texas, who pleaded guilty to four felony charges in exchange for 22 years in suspended sentences and more than $32,000 in fines and court costs.
