LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Movie audiences fell under the spell of "Enchanted," a fairy-tale romance that opened as the weekend's Number 1 movie.

The Disney film took in more than $35 million over the weekend and more than $50 million since opening Wednesday.

Next was the Sony Screen Gems family reunion tale "This Christmas," which has taken in more than $27 million over the long holiday weekend.

Rounding out the top five were "Beowulf," with more than $16 million, "Hitman," which debuted with $13 million, and "Bee Movie," with $12 million.
