OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma's unemployment rate grew slightly in October, increasing to 4.2%.
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported Wednesday an increase of 0.1 percent from September and a 0.6% increase from the same time last year.
The increase in unemployment was attributed to small additions to the non-seasonally adjusted labor force, employment and unemployment for the month.
Overall, Oklahoma's total non-farm employment added 7,400 jobs in October, most of those in the government and educational and health services sectors. Service providing industries accounted for all but 200 of the jobs gained over October.
Statewide manufacturing continued to gradually drop jobs in October with a loss of 900 jobs for the month. Other losses were reported in natural resources and mining, professional and business services and leisure and hospitality.
