OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Governor Brad Henry is encouraging governors throughout the nation to pass anti-methamphetamine legislation like Oklahoma's landmark law.
Henry released figures Wednesday showing that Oklahoma has reduced the number of illegal meth lab seizures by almost 50% since the law was enacted in April.
The governor sent a letter to the nation's 49 other chief executives asking them to adopt similar laws. Henry says success in stopping the meth epidemic will require a combined effort of states limiting access to key ingredients.
The new law limits the sale of the cold medication pseudoephedrine and requires that it be sold from behind the counter in pharmacies. Pseudoephedrine is the main ingredient in making meth.
