A Rogers County teacher received a national honor Wednesday.

Oologah 1st grade teacher Patti Berkley was recognized as a No Child Left Behind American Star of Teaching.

American Stars is a national program that recognizes outstanding teachers. Patti Berkley: "You guys make it, I have the best time at my job, share my award with you."

The program is part of the US Department of Education teacher-to-teacher initiative, which also includes teacher training.
