OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The NAACP is asking for a federal investigation into the death of an East Central University football player.

Eighteen-year-old Joseph Tusan of Arlington, Texas, died on September 19th in a hit-and-run incident following a racially charged argument.

Anthony Douglas, vice president of the Oklahoma chapter of the National Association of Colored People, says Tusan's death wasn't a case of road rage. Douglas says it occurred over racial slurs and was motivated by race.

Douglas asked the Department of Justice and the FBI Monday to investigate the case to determine whether the incident was a hate crime.

Amman Reich is charged with first-degree murder and nine counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon in the incident. He's free on bond.
