The Tulsa State Fair kicks off on Thursday and that has state officials thinking safety. Rides are going up, so inspectors are on site making sure they and the food are safe.

And they say they plan to keep inspecting rides until the end of the fair.

Ride inspector Don Hankins: "We're going to look at them anywhere from 15 and 20 times from the time they spot them on the ground to the time they're open to the public. What we're looking for is a multitude of things - of course - the metal for rust, cracks, fatigue, corrosion."

If a ride doesn't meet safety standards - inspectors will shut it down, tag it for improvements and then check it again. Again the fair kicks off on Thursday.

Make sure to stop by and see the News on 6 at our booth throughout the 11 day fair run.
