State to get money to protect bats
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state Department of Wildlife Conservation will get nearly $470,000 to help protect two species of bats.
The grant from the US Interior Department will be used to buy land in Adair County to protect the Ozark big-eared bat and the gray bat.
The state conservation department hopes to buy more than 12-hundred acres adjacent to the Ozark Plateau National Wildlife Reserve. The land includes a portion of the largest known cave in Oklahoma.
