TU students fish for tennis balls

Some University of Tulsa students did a little creative fishing Friday. Freshman and seniors in mechanical engineering courses at TU had to build a device that could retrieve tennis balls from a box.

Some University of Tulsa students did a little creative fishing Friday. Freshman and seniors in mechanical engineering courses at TU had to build a device that could retrieve tennis balls from a box.

The students could only use string, a rubber band, paper clips and Popsicle sticks. They had to work from an upper balcony to reach the box below.

TU freshman Jesse Doyle: “Gives freshman an intro to what we're really going to be doing over the next several years."

The students had three minutes to pick up as many balls as possible.
